Der nächste Meteosat-Third-Generation-Imager-Satellit (MTG-I2) soll im Rahmen des Fluges VA270 an Bord einer Ariane-6-Rakete vom europäischen Weltraumbahnhof in Französisch-Guayana aus starten. Wie aus einer Meldung des Portals SpaceScout mit Bezug auf ein ESA Dokument hervorgeht wird die Weiterentwicklung der Ariane 6 eingestellt. Betroffen wäre davon unter Anderem ein zukünftiges Upgrade mit Namen Carbon Ariane Upper Stage, oder ICARUS, welche die Oberstufenmasse senken und die Nutzlast erhöhen würde. In dem kürzlich veröffentlichten Jahresabschluß 2025 weist Maiaspace ein negatives Eigenkaptial auf. In einer Entscheidung die die Fortführung des Unternehmens betraf entschied die Muttergesellschaft ArianeGroup das MaiaSpace nicht aufgelöst wird. The Meteosat Third Generation-Imager2 (MTG-I2) satellite, has been launched on board an Ariane 6 launcher from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana. Liftoff was on 27 August 2026 at 22:11 CEST (17:10 local time).

The Meteosat Third Generation Imager2 satellite (MTG-I2) has been encapsulated inside the Ariane 6 fairing and is in place on its launch pad. It is scheduled to lift off on Thursday evening, 27 August, from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.

Arianespace hasn’t publicly disclosed the cost for an Ariane 6 launch.
